About the company

Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) was founded in 2011 and is headquartered in Ningde, Fujian Province, China. The company is one of the world’s largest battery technology manufacturers, with core businesses spanning electric vehicle batteries, battery energy storage systems, battery materials, battery recycling, and broader zero-carbon energy solutions. CATL is listed on both the Shenzhen Stock Exchange and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. CATL’s battery business covers a broad range of applications. In electric mobility, the company supplies cells, modules and battery packs for passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, vessels, construction machinery and other electrified applications. In stationary energy storage, CATL provides dedicated energy storage cells as well as battery cabinets, liquid-cooled racks, containerized systems and complete BESS solutions. Its storage products are deployed across generation-side, transmission and distribution, commercial and industrial, residential, backup power, microgrid and solar-plus-storage applications. The company has developed a broad portfolio of energy storage technologies and platforms, including products such as EnerOne, EnerC, EnerD and the TENER series. CATL has continued expanding into new battery chemistries and system architectures, including sodium-ion storage. In June 2026, the company unveiled the TENER Sodium energy storage system, which CATL described as a commercially mature sodium-ion BESS solution, with cumulative shipments expected to reach 1 GWh by the end of 2026 and global deliveries scheduled to begin in 2027. CATL has built a large international manufacturing, R&D and service network. Its global footprint includes operations and subsidiaries across China, Germany, France, the United States, Canada, Japan and other markets. The company has also expanded localized manufacturing and cooperation in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas as part of its broader internationalization strategy. In 2025, CATL reported lithium-ion battery sales of 661 GWh, up 39% year on year, and global production capacity of 772 GWh, with another 321 GWh under construction by year-end. The company also reported RMB 423.7 billion in annual revenue and RMB 22.1 billion in R&D investment. According to CATL, it held a 39.2% share of the global EV battery market in 2025 and ranked first globally in energy storage battery shipments for the fifth consecutive year, citing SNE Research and ICCSINO. Battery recycling is another major part of CATL’s vertically integrated business. Through its recycling operations, the company recovers lithium, nickel, cobalt and other battery materials for reuse in new battery production. CATL reported recycling 210,000 tonnes of spent batteries in 2025 and recovering 24,000 tonnes of lithium salts, supporting its broader closed-loop battery materials strategy.

De Uiterdijken BESS

De Uiterdijken BESS

509 kWh battery storage system deployed at De Uiterdijken dairy farm in Baarlo. The system stores midday solar generation that would otherwise be exported at low-value periods and shifts it to later on-site consumption, including milk cooling, improving the value and self-consumption of the existing PV system. Friday Energy delivered the battery solution together with Solar Centrum Nederland, using CATL cell technology.
