Project Overview
The Supernode Stage 1 Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is a 260 MW / 619 MWh standalone grid-scale battery storage project located at the South Pine substation in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Developed by Quinbrook, with project execution support from Private Energy Partners and commercial tolling managed by Origin Energy, Stage 1 commenced commercial operations on 17 February 2026 and is operating at full output to the Queensland electricity grid. The project provides large-scale energy shifting, renewable firming and grid stability services, with later stages planned to expand the Supernode complex to 780 MW / 3,074 MWh.
