Project Overview

The Tagawa Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is a 29.97 MW / 130.39 MWh standalone grid-scale battery storage project located in Tagawa City, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. Developed by Honeycomb 8 G.K. and operated by HEXA Energy Services G.K., the project commenced operation in November 2025 and became Japan’s first special high-voltage grid-connected BESS project selected under the FY2023 Long-Term Decarbonization Power Auction.
