Collie Battery Energy Storage System (CBESS)

Project Overview
The Collie Battery Energy Storage System (CBESS) is a 500 MW / 2,000 MWh standalone grid-scale battery energy storage project located in Collie, Western Australia. Developed and operated by Synergy, the state-owned electricity generator and retailer, the project was commissioned in February 2026 with support from GHD for project delivery and commissioning. As one of Australia’s largest battery storage facilities, CBESS provides four-hour energy shifting, grid stability services, and renewable energy integration support for the South West Interconnected System (SWIS).
